The Conference on Optics, Atoms and Laser Applications (KOALA) is Australia and New Zealand's largest international conference organised by a committee of local students. It operates as part of the Optical Society's International OSA Network of Students (IONS) program.

The 2018 KOALA conference is at Macquarie University, North Ryde, NSW, from 4th to 8th December 2018, co-hosted by the University of Sydney.

This conference connects highly-qualified and motivated students from universities all over Australia, New Zealand and the rest of the world to prepare them for careers in research and industry.
